About Nicole Grace Bangloy
My Name is Nicole Grace Bangloy (she/her) and I am a registered social worker and psychotherapist based out of Toronto, ON. I provide in-person and virtual counselling sessions to people that are struggling with the mental health impacts of an accident or injury, navigating living with chronic pain, struggling with managing a chronic illness, suffering from anxiety and depression, or experiencing caregiver burnout by supporting a loved one with health issues.

I am originally from Vancouver, BC and am registered with the BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW) and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). In terms of my education, I completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) at Simon Fraser University, a Bachelor of Social Work (with distinction) (BSW) at the University of Victoria and a Master of Social Work (MSW), specialized in Health and Mental Health at the University of Toronto.

I support and help clients as they move through the inevitable grief, loss, and processing of trauma. Our work together allows them to learn new skills and techniques so they can move towards healing and recovery. It is rewarding to be able to walk with people in their healing journey, as they re-discover their core values, and rebuild a life that gives them purpose and meaning again. If you are looking to find quality of life, even if life looks vastly different than it did before, you’re in the right place.

Clients often share how exhausting and difficult most days are, with only some small moments of light and joy, if any. They talk about how isolating it can feel when friends and family don’t understand what they’ve been through. When friends and family can’t even imagine what they experience day to day. You may be feeling the same way - like you don’t even have the words to explain it yourself.

As a social worker, I have a decade of experience working in health care (Adult and Pediatric) in both BC and Ontario supporting individuals as they navigate physical and mental health challenges. I’ve also had to navigate my own health challenges as a patient and as a family member that give me personal insight into these challenges first hand. It is this combination of professional training and personal experience that allows me to support individuals with varying and complex health issues. Clinically, I have worked in Outpatient Mental Health (specifically with individuals struggling with physical and mental health issues), the Emergency Department, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the High Acuity Unit (HAU) Renal/Nephrology, Medicine, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Orthopedics and Surgery, Maternity, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatrics (including: Gastroenterology, Intestinal Failure, Transplant), Population and Public Health, Sexual Health, HIV/AIDS and in Clinical Supervision. These unique and extensive experiences allow me to understand the complexities you may face, and the health conditions you are managing.

My counselling experience includes working with individuals struggling with Self-Esteem and Self-Confidence, Life Transitions, Grief and Loss, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Panic, Anxiety (Generalized or Social), Trauma/Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Insomnia and Chronic Pain. The approaches I use to help people include, but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cultural Humility, Grief and Loss, Strength and Resiliency and Anti-Oppressive approaches. As a Filipino-Canadian, I am also dedicated to anti-racism in my practice.
